Share Your Yankee Stadium Experience

Were you one of the 4,000 residents who headed to the Bronx for Newtown Day? Tell us about it in the comments.

The long-awaited Newtown Day at Yankee Stadium finally came, and if you were one of the lucky 4,000, we want to hear about your day!

For weeks, residents have been picking up free tickets for the game from the town of Newtown's Recovery Team. Before the game Sunday, the Yankees took a moment to remember Newtown with appearances from Newtown Youth Voices, the Sandy Hook Fire Department and Newtown's police department.

"Having reasons to come together as a community in celebration, for moments of enjoyment, is very important to us," said First Selectman Pat Llodra, according to CNN. "What happened to us is something that will never be forgotten but we're learning to integrate it into who we are."

It was the second tribute this year to the people of Newtown from the Yankees. On opening day, the team honored the victims of Dec. 14 with a tribute at the stadium.
