Time to Vote: It's Newtown Budget Referendum Day

Polls will be open until 8 p.m. at Newtown Middle School.

The proposed 2014-15 budget has made its way through all the town boards, and now it's in voters' hands.

Polls opened at 6 a.m. and registered voters will be able to cast their ballots up until 8 p.m. Newtown Middle School, on Queen Street, is the only polling location for the budget vote.

As approved April 2 by the town's Legislative Council, the 2014-15 budget of $111,066,204 represents a "zero increase" over the current budget; the Mill Rate would actually go down by an estimated 0.02% to 33.31.

A complete budget guide, prepared by the town, has been embedded with this article.
