Ann Benore Kicks Off Campaign for Newtown Town Clerk

"I know this town, and I know this job," the Democrat says.

The Villa Restaurant in Sandy Hook served as the backdrop for Ann LoBosco Benore's campaign kick-off Thursday night.

Benore, who has the endorsement of the town's Democratic Party, is running for Newtown Town Clerk. She is going up against Debbie Aurelia, a Republican who has served as Newtown Town Clerk since 2009.

In Her Own Words

Benore released the following statement:

"As you may know, I am running for Town Clerk and the Newtown election is fast approaching. My campaign is now underway and I am very fortunate to be running alongside outstanding candidates."

"The Town Clerk’s Office is essentially the hub of local government and is the direct link between the community and its government. It is the first place that people go to receive information."

"As the official keeper of municipal records, it is extremely important to be efficient and accurate. I have a very good work ethic and believe my record will indicate my ability to complete tasks with attention to detail and in a timely manner."

"My goal is to bring my experience to the Town Clerk’s Office and make sure the information available to the public is up to date and easily accessible. It is important that the Town Clerk’s office conducts itself in a friendly, approachable manner in order for things to run smoothly."

"I am a Certified Town Clerk (CMC), have worked in the Town Clerk’s Office for over five years, and have been the Borough Clerk for the past four years. As an elected official, I will follow the personnel policies of the town employees and follow town guidelines."

"I graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1985 with a B.S. in Human Resource Management. Newtown has been my home for over 20 years and I have raised two sons, ages 22 and 19, who attended Newtown schools."
