Fairfield Hills Apartments

On Thursday at 7:30 at the Municipal Center the P&Z will discuss allowing the FFHA authority to consider apartments above commercial space. The argument is that commercial builders say they cannot make money without residential units above the buildings.

This is a huge change in direction for Newtown and I do not believe the decision should be made based on what builders want for profit motives. The decision should be based on what Newtown wants.

FFH and commercial builders should not drive a decision for what zoning we desire for Newtown.

If the P&Z believes that apartments over commercial buildings is what Newtown wants then there should be a community discussion on the issue and the decision should then be applicable to more than just Fairfield Hills. The community has been very clear that they do not want residential housing at FFH. The P&Z should not be back dooring this decision.
