What You Need To Know About High School, From the Principal's Blog
Principal Charles Dumais relays important information for freshmen and returning students.
If you're a Newtown High School student or the parent of one, you know you can rely on Principal Charles Dumais's blog for a constant stream of relevant school information, straight from the source.
As students head back to school this week, Dumais has been actively posting everything from the school's calendar of days to parking information. We've aggregated some of the most essential information from Dumais's blog to help new students and their parents make sense of the coming school year.
- The Calendar of Days is available online, with exams, early release days and other important dates clearly marked. Dumais notes the first three days of school will dismiss 10 minutes early.
- Make Sense of Your Schedule: Newtown High School's rotating schedule can be a little confusing. This year, the school has adopted a new weekly schedule, and Dumais has some recommendations to help students fit it into Google Calendar so they'll never be unsure where they're heading next.
- Link Crew Freshman Orientation will help students transition from middle school to high school. Juniors and Seniors will serve as leaders and mentor freshmen -- the event runs Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Freshman photographs will be taken Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.
- Seniors can pick up campus parking permits Friday, August 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Newtown High School Security Office. The fee is $85. See link for more details.
