The Edmond Town Hall once housed town offices until they were moved to the Municipal Center at the old Fairfield…More Hills Hospital site.</p> <p>The building, which was dedicated in 1930 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, is best known for its movie theatre, which has both evening and matinee <a href="http://www.newtown-ct.gov/Public_Documents/NewtownCT_WebDocs/auditorium">showings</a>. Tickets are $2. There is additionally a banquet hall, gymnasium and meeting rooms.</p> <p>The building was the gift of town benefactor, Mary Elizabeth Hawley and named for her great grandfather Judge William Edmond. An elected bipartisan board of managers is responsible for its upkeep.</p>
