The fire company was founded in 1925, the third of five independent volunteer fire companies in town. The comapny andMore Dodgingtown respond to the fewest number of calls in Newtown.</p> <p>Company meetings are held at 8pm on the first Monday of each month. An officer's meeting is held on the second Monday and two drills are scheduled for every month.</p>

Established in 1940, the nonprofit ambulance service has 60 emergency medical technicians who annually respond toMore more than 2,000 calls across the town's 60 square miles. A paramedic, who is trained in advanced life support, is housed 24 hours, seven days a week in order to assist with the more serious medical calls.</p> <p>The service began with the Rotary Club purchasing a 1942 Cadillac Supreme to serve as the Newtown's first ambulance.</p>

Dodgingtown Fire Co. is the second oldest of the five independent fire companies in town, tracing its history to 1909More when it was founded. The company was incorporated two years later.</p> <p>The fire house was built in the 1950s and the company is responsible for responding to calls, including fire, motor vehicle accidents and some medical calls, in a 12-square mile area that encompasses Hattertown, Poverty Hollow and Bogs Hill roads.</p> <p>The fire company has one of the lowest call volumes in Newtown. Members meet 7pm, every Monday at the fire station, with the first meeting of the month a general one, the second for drills, the third for an officers' meeting and work detail, and the fourth for another work detail.</p>
