When questioned after his release on bail, James Brown would only comment, "Whoa! I feel good IRead More knew that I would, now I feel good I knew that I would, now" as he started to dance in a funky style reminiscent of the 1960's. He subsequently started "chatting" about how Poppa's got a brand new bag or something like that.

Who are you calling, stupid Paul?
Mary Ann Jacob May 20, 2013 at 05:32 pm
The discussion that still needs to take place is what type of armed security will be hired. RegularRead More duty police? SROs that have a teaching role? Armed security like a retired police officer? Depending on the grant requirements we need to consider legacy costs. For example, the grant might say they will pay for xxx number of years and you need to maintain the same staffing level for xxx of more years. Making the final decision before all the information is available would not be prudent. .

Thank you "TEACHER" for the update that the home was abandoned, Once again incompleteRead More information is reported. As far as the home being a disgrace, I do not know the owners financial situation, state of health or circumstances that lead to the home becoming an alleged eyesore to the neighborhood. As far as abandoned goes I believe the report stated that a Man was questioned by DEEP officials, but not arrested. Was this Man the owner of the abandoned property?
Teacher May 8, 2013 at 01:40 pm
Clearly you do not live in Newtown. This is an abandoned, rundown house on a main road. It's beenRead More a disgrace and an eyesore for at least 8 years (when I moved here). If I were a neighbor, I most certainly would have called if I saw the backdoor smashed in! Nobody has "lived" in that house in years. If someone were living there, then that person was a squatter, and that's clearly illegal.
Jim K May 8, 2013 at 01:57 am
What was his crime? Saving urine is a crime? When cops saw no one was home they needed to report hisRead More jugs of urine why? Why were they searching shelves? Who was trespassing in his back yard to notice the broken door? Or was it a concerned neighbor (So terribly concerned that they didn't know him well enough to know he saved his urine)? What was the suspicious activity that the "Anonymous Tipster called in?" Still much more to the story...

Please also keep in mind, Newtown's drug lock box is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year! Please use it and keep your home safe and drug free! what's with the lack of information on the Police Blotter? No crime in Newtown?
Jim Galda April 11, 2013 at 10:11 pm
Officer Mike,I can't thank you enough. You will be truly missed. Thanks for being there for my littleRead More girl.God bless and I wish the best for you .
Jose Sabillon April 11, 2013 at 06:18 pm
Thank you so much for being the person you are, SHS will certainly miss you, good luck in Greenwich.Read More J. Sabillon

A good man. Teachers and kids love him. Greenwich is lucky to have him.
Myles Shepherd April 10, 2013 at 06:49 pm

Susan Joy April 10, 2013 at 06:17 pm
I am only concerned, I am sure you are dong the best you can especially in the situation. I just sawRead More the beautiful horses the other day out in the fencing.
Myles Shepherd April 10, 2013 at 04:58 pm
thank you for your concern :) we are dealing with this as best we can
Anna Nommis April 11, 2013 at 11:43 pm
Was it really 20 DWI checks last year? I only remember seeing like 4 at the most.
Anna Nommis April 11, 2013 at 11:32 pm
They did remove Police from construction sites for quite a while. Those jobs are paid for by theRead More construction companies, and only get filled after all other Town needs are met.
yoda April 5, 2013 at 10:49 am
To all, Take the community police classes Newtown offers, I assure you it's worth the time!Read More Knowledge is power, keep up the strength!!

Why seal the files - very suspicious?
Jennifer March 29, 2013 at 11:16 pm
I agree Mary that SHES did everything humanly possible - true Hero's.
MAC March 29, 2013 at 07:12 pm
@Sam re "what red flags," anyone with the blank look of young Lanza in his photos, andRead More other recent mass killers--also their behavior/isolation from human interaction, indicating a lack of all human empathy--is a ticking time bomb, imo! If we see something like this in a person around us, or someone we have knowledge of (or even suspect needs help!), then SAY something to their family, school/counseling authorities, or the police if all other options have been exhausted. The parents of the killers in AZ and CO should have gone to the police when they knew something was very wrong with their sons, who refused to get the mental health treatment which was obviously needed. Also, someone as isolated from human interaction, other than with his mother as AL was, is a grave risk to himself if not others! Imo it is not only his mother who failed to see and act on warning signs.
Connor April 2, 2013 at 04:39 pm

Our community is prime example of how we all should care and love our neighbors. We use this exampleRead More to show the world how it works, and our wish is that people take these examples and apply it to their own community. We are Sandy Hook, and we choose love

As a first responder in town I just want to say that dispatch has always been there for us and beenRead More our link to anything we need before, during and after a call. Thanks for being there!!!!!!
Yay Write March 28, 2013 at 12:08 am
" regionalization " of the dispatch center would be the biggest mistake this town everRead More made. Unfortunately Ms. Will has an agenda, and that's why it has not happened. Maybe someone should ask her why "she" wants it? Trust me it won't save the town money but it would give her a bigger paycheck!
Janet Robinson March 27, 2013 at 06:22 pm
As the Superintendent of Newtown Schools, let me add my praise to a job well done. I relied onRead More Maureen that fateful day to provide me with the information I needed when the first reports came in. She is a real pro at this work - compassionate and knowledgeable.
WaxyGordon March 26, 2013 at 03:23 pm
All Newtown police should be required to work in New Haven or Bridgeport for a year before everRead More working in Newtown..they need to get a perspective of what a crime is and what can be handled with old fashion common sense without making an arrest
Joe March 26, 2013 at 03:13 pm
Here it is: http://www.cga.ct.gov/2007/rpt/2007-R-0346.htm Spring assist are now generally allRead More 3.25". Ka-Bars appear to be illegal I have an leather handled antique hunting knife that will get me in some trouble though!
CK March 26, 2013 at 02:29 pm
"I think the law pertains to the length of blade. I know there is a restriction on length forRead More folding knives (4") which is why they all are shorter." So what do people who serve in the Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves do? We all carry around Ka-Bars which are about 7 inches in length. What about transporting kitchen knives? Are we to be completely disarmed and helpless? http://www.kabar.com/knives/detail/30
Joe May 14, 2013 at 05:45 pm
@Mark, we do. Do a little research before you post. They pay $70 to Newtown PD then another $70 toRead More Ct Dept of Public Safety.

A "Useful Idiot" in the eyes of the Gun Grabbers. He certainly does have a pair....
Sue May 9, 2013 at 05:01 pm
We now learn Neil Heslin ,Sandy Hook father and gun control advocate is a convicted felon and has aRead More long history of DWI, driving under suspension, drug, larceny, bad checks, failure to pay child support arrests ,convictions and civil litigation and faces prison time. He got on a soapbox to preach about getting new laws for all law abiding gun owners to follow when he hypocritically breaks every law in the book himself. The fact that a convicted felon with outstanding arrest warrants could actually get into the White House and meet face to face with Oabama shows how ineffective background checks are when you have a felon that disregards the law. Amazing the hutzpah on this guy.
Lois Imbriano Barber April 16, 2013 at 03:12 pm
Laura Nowacki - your speech was so heartfelt and wonderful! I got a lump in my throat and tears inRead More my eyes just reading it. We are all so proud of you and team and we're very grateful that you are all okay.

2nd must go so the 4th and 1st can follow. It's classic fascism. When a government turns fromRead More representing to ruling, the citizenry must be disarmed....anyone who went to public HS prior to 1984 can tell you this.
Eddie Willers April 4, 2013 at 02:26 pm
One inch?! Do you know how many feet have been given? For ex. , did you know that you can't legallyRead More leave New England with a firearm no matter how you store it (even unloaded, locked in a box, in your trunk) because NY and NJ laws are so onerous? Did you know that they profile and illegally search and seize ("Is there a problem officer?" "All you Vermonters carry guns. Now get out of the vehicle so I can search it.")? (That's an actual conversation of an acquaintance, not something I heard on the internet.) Did you know that even when someone prevents a crime with their legal firearm, they are likely not to report it out of fear of prosecution? For ex., a close family member stopped a car-jacking, but carefully avoided mentioning drawing a weapon because it was a gun-unfriendly town and he knew that w/out proof that it was a gang and not a band of merry gentlemen offering roadside assistance, he could be charged with assault for threatening them. P.S. It was after facing those 9 giants (later found out they were probably from a known Jamaican gang) that he went from his 6-shooter to a high cap semi-auto. How about our anti-gun friends give back an inch somewhere (national right to carry would be a fair trade in the eyes of most people I know, including my MSNBC addicted Mother).
onceuponanewtown April 3, 2013 at 08:08 pm
We had better be informed of what the issues were, there has been enough documentation seized toRead More provide evidence and hopefully they won't sit on it much longer; unless the whole point is to drag it out long enough to hope people will stop asking! If this was due to any other type of negligence that is ongoing how will we ever prevent or hold accountable those that could have made all the difference in the world. There should be no stone left unturned!
Craig Zac April 1, 2013 at 11:55 am
Good for him, he was probably just getting away from the state... and m M M M Malloy!

" Not waiting for all of the facts to be officially reported before crafting legislation."Read More Our fore fathers are turning in the grave. "JUST the Facts Mam, Just the Facts." Can anyone say "100 day Gun Bill"? National registration = confiscation. Criminals dont care about law. Insane people dont seek medical help. A weapon is a weapon is a weapon, whether it be a gun, knife,BOX CUTTER,baseball bat, 2000 lb car, or lethal hands by karate. Ignore the man behind the curtain, just keep following the yellow brick road.
Joe April 11, 2013 at 08:30 pm
@oathkeeper, Not sure where you're going with this. Yes 13, not all closed. What's your point? I'dRead More not have gone to so many except my wife is a teacher at SHS and I was the driver for two days. She attended over twenty. If you look at my post date/time, you'd see it was prior to the warrant info being released and I was sharing what was disclosed at a closed-door meeting. Why not go back and read some of my posts before you shoot your mouth off long enough to insert both feet?

Joe April 11, 2013 at 11:54 am
Well done, G. You're a real class act.
G April 11, 2013 at 01:54 am
Welcome Steve M. I'm sure you've already come to the realization that this Patch website is not aRead More forum with members focused on being civil, as suggested by SH Dad. Prior to Dec. 14, 2012, it used to be somewhat more civil, dealing with issues such as town budgets, potholes, restoring electrical services after major storms, etc. After the Sandy Hook massacre, the gun control debate has taken over with many local gun owners coming out of the woods to defend their 2nd Amendment rights, which have never been an issue. But we can humor them and let them go on and on. But going forward, they'll have to register their magazines that hold 11+ bullets, or they will be liable for felony charges. Come to think of it, there was one 6 year old child at Sandy Hook Elementary School that had exactly 11 bullets shot into his body. I apologize for the graphic image, but apparently that was not enough bullets for many of these gun owners.
Joe April 11, 2013 at 12:29 am
Hi Steve M, welcome to our corner of the world. A gun is nothing to be uneasy about. It is generallyRead More a piece of metal and only as dangerous as the man/woman holding it wants it to be. Many Americans, maybe more than half, own firearms as a means of defending one's home. Please ask any and all questions and the civil people here will be glad to help you. Regards, SH
