Despite the fact that President Obama didn't use his executive office powers to override congressRead More and the zoo of " Elephants" that dominate the house; Healing Newtown seems to be doing a good thing as far as getting the message out there. I just finished watching " Shooting Star", the controversial episode of FOX-TV's series Glee; it was surely an eye opener into the tragedy associated with school shootings. In it, a mentally-challenged high school young woman brought a handgun into school, planning to walk into Coach Sue's office [ Jane Lynch] and shoot herself with it. Coach Sue tried to talk her into handing over the pistol and it goes off and nearly shoots her. Coach Sue ends up taking the fall, saying it was her pistol; for which she gets fired from her long time high school coaching career. In an article in Newtown Patch about a month ago, many Newtown Parents accused FOX of being insensitive. However, they really need to blame the National Assault Rifle Association. Call them for what they truly are; a gun-rights organization whose bottom line is this; profits for the gun manufacturers at the expense of tragedies caused by loosely-regulated firearms!

Dear Ms.Williams: Hopefully my words reach you and console your concerns. I assure you that our MANYRead More active places of worship have done a superb job strengthing our healing process. In fact, with doors wide open, I believe all places have had higher attendance since 12/14 which warms my heart. But I am an artist and believe that physically what other artists who have created some sort of emotional expression is willing to donate is to compensate for our losses and a void which left many feeling. All over the country. Yes god bestows agift upon artistic people and we need to share that. Art heals in many ways and one must consider our population (nearly 30,000) and the high number of youth population who do not have a designated area to visit to physically engage an environment which would help pacify a community boo boo. I basically see this as a place to shelter Americas donation of art. Memorabilia is that which coins a signature for certain icons, symbols we associate events with. Art which has a value should be housed for secure reasons, climate control and theft. But most of all is the viewer who can identify with craft of hand and mind laboring over their intense depths to reflect their emotional responses. I believe they are receiving Americas gesture in the right way. And I'm sure that decisions will be made down the road to sort through the many complicated ones which have befallen on Newtown. Artistically, Brigette Sorensen

The healing center that needs to be built is a Spiritual center for healing. The externals and allRead More the beauty that is being created is wonderful but the healing comes deep within our souls. The journey to get there is the journey within, that is the true art of healing. We say the arts but where is the mention of God? Where is the place to walk into where you can talk about what is in your heart and find a listening ear? The town of Newtown had a memorial tent that provided that and it has just been taken down. How about the town and Governor backing a God based center?
