<p>St. Rose of Lima Church was founded in 1859 and once served 11 towns in northern Fairfield County. It has daily, Saturday and Sunday Masses and an extensive religious education program.</p>
<p>The church said it has nearly $13 million in total liabilities and net assets by the end of 2009.</p> <p>St. Rose School is a private Catholic school serving students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. It was built in 1957, draws students from Newtown, Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, Shelton, Monroe, Southbury, Bethlehem, Oxford, Roxbury and Woodbury. In 2009, the school was recognized with a prestigious Blue Ribbon award from the U.S. Department of Education, recognizing academically superior schools.</p>
