Eat Your Way Through The History of Ice Cream in Newtown

Free event this Sunday at the Newtown Historical Society.

Come to the Newtown Historical Society’s Open House on Sunday June 29 to learn about the history of ice cream, make your own in the traditional way, and - best of all - enjoy the finished product.

Visitors can hear from Charles Ferris, III and his wife, Shirley between 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. who will be stopping by to share the history of their ice cream farm, which is celebrating its 10th birthday.

The event runs midday to 4 p.m. and if you need an excuse to indulge, a walking tour of Sandy Hook will take place 12 p.m. to 12.45 p.m. Town Historian Dan Cruson will tell several stories of intrigue including the Sandy Hook Shoot Out of 1898. Walkers should meet at Washington Park and good walking shoes are advised.
