It's Time to Start Anew....
I've been thinking a lot lately about the difficult decision the people of Sandy Hook have in regards to the school, and whether or not to tear it down. I wrote this poem about it:
It's Time to Start Anew
We've lost you all over again,
When we walk past the school of pain,
Years of joy, replaced with rain,
It's time to start anew.
Many tears, no more tomorrows,
These walls have been replaced with sorrow,
New brick and mortar we will borrow,
So we can start anew.
Let's replace this solemn ground,
With a tribute, strong and sound,
To celebrate the love we've found,
It's time to start anew.
The world is with you, as you decide,
To rebuild, and move on with pride,
Our love for Newtown, we cannot hide,
It's time to start anew.
We know it's hard, you cannot replace,
Each beautiful Angel, each beautiful face,
The pain inside, you cannot erase,
It's time to start anew.
A special memorial can be built,
Where seeds of love will never wilt,
Where you will hear a joyful lilt,
It's time to start anew.
Up to the heavens, you can erect,
A lovely place, to come and reflect,
To join hands and hearts, and connect,
And begin to start anew.
We wish you joy, we wish you peace,
Our love for the 26 Angels, will never cease,
Build a place for love, on the ground beneath,
And begin to start anew.
