Sandy Hook Tree Lighting

Sandy Hook Tree Lighting December 1, 2012 beginning at 4pm. Food, fun, giveaways, caroling.

We are only a few hours away from my favorite Sandy Hook event--the annual tree lighting.  The entire event is magical for me--filled with family, friends, and an unparalleled sense of community.  My kids, 13 and 10, love starting the event off at the Toy Tree to get a pair of 3-D glasses that make all the Christmas lights look like snowmen, santas, or reindeer, and then run from business to business discovering holiday offerings at each one.  This year, I'm sure they will be thrilled to find that the Sandy Hook Diner will give them a balloon for stopping by, that they can get their face painted at either Fun Kuts/Fun Kids Consignment or Wishing Well, and that the Wesley Learning Center is giving out jingle bell bracelets around the tree.

The entire event is family-friendly, and if you are looking for a night off from cooking, you can enjoy a meal at The Villa Restaurant (where your kids can eat FREE from the special children's menu!) or at Stone River Grille where you can enjoy free samples. If you just want to snack, stop by The Connecticut Counselors at 107 Church Hill for treats, Figs for hot cider and dessert, The Country Mill for cookies and candy, Porco's Karate for popcorn, or Demitasse for latte samples.

Want to kick off your holiday shopping with great gift ideas?  Be sure to stop by Sabrina Style (offering 10% off non sale items), The Toy Tree (for unique toys and stocking stuffers), The Country Mill (great country decor), or Wishing Well (offering 10% off ornaments, jewelry, home decor, artwork, and more!).

If you just want to bask in the festivities, join The Graceful Planet by the tree for karaoke fun or sing Christmas Carols with the middle school chorus after the tree is lit.  You are also welcome to open house parties at Sandy Hook Hair Company and Sandy Hook Deli & Catering.  In the spirit of giving, don't forget to stop by PJs Laundromat where you can drop off a non-perishable donation to the food pantry.

This event is truly spectacular, and it really starts the season off with big doses of warm and fuzzies.  Join us tonight starting at 4pm for one of the best events this town has to offer.
