Reed, Middle School Principals Chosen

School officials chose new leaders for Reed Intermediate School and Newtown Middle School Wednesday night, choosing principals from West Hartford, CT and Thomaston, CT.

Newly appointed Newtown Middle School principal Thomas Einhorn is currently acting principal of Hall High School in West Hartford, where he has worked in administration for almost 11 years, according to officials.

"Tom is the go-to person, the one you can always count on to wisely counsel an appropriate course of action," said West Hartford Assistant Superintendent Tom Moore, according to the release.

Previously, Einhorn served as a special education teacher for seven years. According to a release from the Superintendent's Office, he brings high reviews from administration and staff, including one staff member who said he was "emotionally impacted" by Einhorn's departure because he wanted his students to be in a school run by him.

Incoming Reed Intermediate School principal Anne Uberti is currently principal of Thomaston Center School, a 4-6 school in Thomaston CT, and has also served as a K-6 math coordinator and math teacher. She is "considered an authority on best institutional practice and a consummate team player in curriculum development," according to the release.

"Through our visitation to her school we have confirmed our opinion that Anne has the motivation, drive, intelligence, professional insight, strong leadership skills and the interpersonal skills to work with our very talented and experienced staff," said Newtown education officials. "She will be firm in her goal for quality education and successful in having the school work in a united fashion as a professional learning community."
