Oxford Schools Closed Monday, Feb. 11

Efforts to clean up the town are ongoing.

Oxford Public Schools will be closed Monday, Feb. 10, according to First Selectman George Temple.

Oxford got 36.2 inches of snow in the storm, according to the National Weather Service. It is going to take days to clean it all up.

Oxford Patch will keep you posted about future closures, delays, etc.

Mom in Oxford. Why you even replaying to these people. They just trying to stress you out. Most complainers are people who don't prepare, drive some junky vehicle, and expect somebody else to do hard labor. All they are capable of is sit on Internet and whine.

What is wrong with everyone? There is over 3 feet of snow out there. There is not a magic wand to wave to get rid of it that fast. I do believe the news reported the impending storm days beforehand. Maybe people should have prepared. Also, get off your butts and clean as much as you can around your house/walkways/driveways. Stop acting like a bunch of spoiled brats who are helpless. My goodness, great example for kids. Sit back and let others do all the work. They can't plow every street at once. Common sense people. Everyone was born with it, try to use it.

Is there school tomorrow? I ask because twitter says we don't have it again.

George has provided a strong, CALM voice during the blizzard, and he did respond when I left him a message. There was a tractor on my dead-end street for over an hour yesterday moving snow. I know this is frustrating and overwhelming, but if people help each other out (as dear people did with me yesterday), we will weather this the best that we can. As a teacher, I would rather stay out of school until we know the kids can get there safely, the building roofs are patent, and we can focus on the job at hand. Help out a neighbor if you have a snowblower, thank the town crews, and be grateful that we have power. Nancy
