Newtown Schools Hire New Special Education Supervisor

A Stratford school psychologist will take the reins of Newtown public schools' special education program, according to an announcement Monday.

Sandy Rodriguez comes to Newtown from the Stratford Public School District, where she served as both a clinical and school psychologist, as well as an Outplacement Facilitator.

"Ms. Rodriguez possesses the professional background, leadership and interpersonal strengths needed to help move our pupil services department forward," said Director of Pupil Services Julie Haggard. "She will be an asset to the Newtown Public Schools and will serve our students and families well."

Rodriguez will replace Eric Colon, who resigned earlier this year. Her previous experience also includes work at Fairfield Public Schools and Yale-New Haven hospital.

She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Albertus Magnus College, a Master's Degree and Certificate of Advanced Study from Fairfield University and an administrative certificate from Sacred Heart University in 2013.
