Newtown Schools Closed Tomorrow, Oct. 31

Superintendent of Schools Janet Robinson made the decision today, as Newtown deals with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

With more than 90 percent of the town still without power and no restoration estimates yet available, Newtown education officials announced today that there will be no school on Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31.

The announcement was posted on the school district's website. Schools were also closed yesterday and today due to Hurricane Sandy, which made landfall late Sunday and continued through this morning. The hurricane-force winds have brought down trees throughout town and resulted in many road closures.
