With more than 90 percent of the town still without power and no restoration estimates yet available, Newtown education officials announced today that there will be no school on Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31.
The announcement was posted on the school district's website. Schools were also closed yesterday and today due to Hurricane Sandy, which made landfall late Sunday and continued through this morning. The hurricane-force winds have brought down trees throughout town and resulted in many road closures.
St. Luke's Closed
Due to storm aftermath, classes and all activities are canceled through Thursday, Nov. 1. School is scheduled to resume, if conditions allow, on Friday, Nov. 2.
The 9th Grade CWRA assessment has been moved to Nov. 8. Students should check the website for assignments and messages from their teachers. The School is using, when power allows, every available method to update families including phone messages, texts, announcements, this website and St. Luke's School Facebook page.
