Residents Can Share Thoughts at Superintendent Search Forum

The following is a notice from the Board of Education. A public forum for input on the superintendent selection process has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7 at the Newtown High School Lecture Hall.

The Newtown Board of Education wants to invite the community to participate in the Superintendent Search process. The Board is asking community members to attend a focus group to provide their input about the strengths, challenges and leadership qualities desired in the next superintendent. The Community focus group is scheduled for Monday, October 7, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at Newtown High School.

Consultants from CABE Search Services, an executive educational search firm, who are facilitating the search process, have met already met with 100 school staff, senior citizens, clergy and PTO leadership. In the next two weeks additional focus groups will be held with school staff, parents, students and town staff / officials. In addition 150 members of the Newtown community have completed the online Superintendent Search Survey available on the district website at www.newtown.k12.ct.us

The selection of a Superintendent of Schools is one of the most important
responsibilities of a school board and the Newtown Board values your input. The Board encourages community members to attend the focus group and share their thoughts about the qualities and characteristics desired in the next Superintendent.

Anyone who is unable to attend the focus group can complete an anonymous online Superintendent Search Survey available at the district website: www.newtown.k12.ct.us through October 14, 2013.
