A little over two hours into the storm and CL&P is reporting outages across the state. In Newtown, fives homes are reportedly without power.

Tennis lessons at Newtown Youth Academy have been canceled this afternoon and evening.

All fields are closed with the exception of Tilson and Treadwell Turf Fields, according to Newtown Park & Rec.

All after school and evening activities scheduled for today have been canceled, including open swim at Newtown High School.

Programs at the Newtown Youth Academy will run on schedule, according to Park & Rec.

11:20 a.m. Wed., Nov. 7

Superintendent of Schools Janet Robinson just announced that, due to an impending nor'easter, Newtown Public Schools will have early dismissal today, Nov. 7.

A message posted on the district's website states: "All schools will have an early dismissal for today Nov. 7th due to high winds. Parent Teacher Conferences are cancelled. All K-8 and High School afterschool activities are cancelled."

Meanwhile, the state's two largest utilities say they are ready for the nor'easter, which is expected to bring wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour and a couple of inches of wintry mix.
