I have emailed for contact info as well, to see if there is anything myself and many of my colleagues can do from Tampa. Money needs to be raised for these families for funeral expenses, counseling and medical bills and I want to help any way I can, I can undoubtedly say I feel safe in speaking for anybody who has heard of this tragedy. - Kelli

Kelli, i am from the chicago area and really would like to help with this concert in raising money....whether it be trying to make contacts with singers/bands/people....whatever it might be. I really feel many "stars"/professional singers would participate in a chance to help out those in need through this all.....so sad for so many. Please let me know if you hear anything......or if we can just start planning one.....this has touched my heart so deeply!!! - Vonda

@Vonda, I have not heard back yet, but I suspect it's early in the planning stages. Off my record label, I have Nashville recording artist Ashley Forrest and her east coast back-up musicians Detour Band on standy-by; we have some donated performance dates available in late December and early January. Cheers, Art Huseonica

As a Newtown resident and one of the many families touched by this terrible tragedy, I would like to offer our 5,500 capacity venue at Ives Concert Park on the Westside Campus of Western CT State University for a benefit concert to help the families of those we lost and Sandy Hook Elementary School. We will communicate with our promoters, artists, agents, tech crew, etc with a call to action. Please keep in touch if you all wish to assist in this effort as we move forward to help and comfort our families and community in need.

Anyone looking for a way to help the families that were affected by the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary should consider attending the benefit dinner I am hosting along with some of my fellow Quinnipiac students. It will be on January 3, 2013 at 7:00pm at Woodwinds in Branford. All proceeds will go to Newtown Youth and Family Services to help the affected families cover the cost of grief counselling. More information and tickets can be found at www.hopeforsandyhook.com

It would be good to have a large venue since most of us have not been able to attend events. Community needs to be together without press.

Is this the same benefit concert that the journalist from the Newtown Bee is trying to organize? If not, maybe both parties can merge for one major concert. Just a thought.

Ashley
My wife is a counselor in Newtown, her agency and all that I am aware of are providing grief counseling to Newtown families at no cost. This being the case, where would this money be going.

Does anyone know the name of the person in charge of the concert details that i could call? Thanks Vonda
Ashley Alcott January 2, 2013 at 01:48 pm
It is all going to Newtown Youth and Family Services, to the Caroline's Gift fund
I contacted them about the event before planning it and they approved it and said that all donations are welcome for the families because counselling will unfortunately last for quite some time. Thank you for asking!
