The S.H.A.C.K.,which stands for the Sandy Hook Arts Center for Kids, was established by a group of Newtown High School alumni from the Class of 1987. We are a charitable organization, volunteer-run, and in the process of obtaining our 501(c)3 status. In the meantime, we have partnered with 2 already established 501(c)3 organizations, Animal Assisted Therapy, Inc. and Arts for Healing, to provide free art, music and pet therapy. We will be located in Sandy Hook center and will also offer low cost art, music and theatre classes for children.
The S.H.A.C.K. invites the community to our first FREE art event on Mon. Jan. 21 from 10am-5pm at Fun Kuts, 111 Church Hill Rd.
Children will make a peace sign craft to symbolize World Peace and carry on Martin Luther King’s vision of a peaceful nation. Activities: Peace sign painting, face painting, puppet show, healing drum circle, a visit from a therapy dog from Animal Assisted Therapy Services, Inc. & more!
