I believed that the patch was a reliable source of news, and respectible reporting. With the recent tradgedy that we all have experienced in Sandy Hook, I have noticed that all of a sudden we have many many more people who claim to be "I am from Newtown" or "I am from Sandy Hook" or "I am a parent of a child in Newtown", ...etc, etc...
I mask my name due to the overwhelming people who seemingly want people to believe we that post on the patch are all "from Newtown" or "from Sandy Hook". They bring negativity, political adgendas, and personal vendettas into the mix, trying to make us look like a town that is not what it seems. These people are not the majority I would like to associate with, or have my name known to.
The Napolean complex that saturates these forums is entirely too overwhelming. These people try to push their own views onto others. If you disagree with them, you are attacked, belittled, and degraded, as much as your view is disregarded as the minority.
This must stop. The Newtown Patch used to be a friendly place where Newtowners or Hooks would go to debate topics. Now it has turned into a 3 ring circus where there is no holds barred. The Newtown Patch needs to stop all commenting, and revamp the entire system where we all can have that good place I used to remember, back again. The place where we could talk to one another with decency and common ground debates were in good faith. Not a place where conspiracy theorists, thread hijackers, extremists, or just down right unappealing people congregate and eventually destroy the original intent of the article written.
If I wanted to visit a place like that, I would watch Jerry Springer, or Maury Povich(now mind you I do not watch daytime TV, so I might be mistaken on what is on the television now a days...I only speak from what I remember).
We need to revamp the system. Retake the Patch. Stop the madness, and have a decent place to relax and a conversation.
Can we do this? I AM Sandy Hook, and I choose love. Can the patch do the same and follow suit?
