Best Of Ledyard: Vote For The Best Pizza Restaurant [with Poll]

Vote for your favorite pizza place in town, the winner will be announced Saturday.

How many times have you been talking to a friend and you discover that he or she can't stand the pizza topping you can't live without? Or, he or she thinks that any crust other than thin and crispy tastes like a sponge?

Well, deal-breakers aside, Ledyard has a handful of options to choose from when it comes to pizza and Ledyard Patch has a directory that lists them all. Each business listing includes a handy section for writing a review of the food, dining experience, value...you name it.

Every Monday we'll draw your attention to a new product or service in Ledyard and Gales Ferry and ask for your opinion. Write a review or simply rate the place. Either way, share your experience so when people are new to town or looking for something a little different they'll have some point of reference.

Use the poll to vote for your favorite pizza place in Ledyard and Gales Ferry and we'll announce the winner, based on the number of votes and positive reviews, on Saturday, Feb. 24. The polls are open until 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24.

We are regulars at Fireside and love the interesting varieties of pizza and sandwiches, along with the friendly service. The soups are outstanding and they also have wonderful salads. We also have long enjoyed Valentinos, more for the great Italian food than pizza. We are lucky to have them both in town.

I didn't vote for any because I have a difference of opinions, the food is good at both places but Fireside does have the best pizza and a variety of selections although if you get a pizza at Valentinos made by the man Anthony Costa you will surely have the best pizza ever at Valentinos. As far as Italian cuisine go to any of Richies fine establishments and you will be amazed!!!

We like Valentinos. Great flavor but a little soggy. Like crispy firm bottom crust which fireside has. Only problem we've had with fireside is inconsistency from order to order. First pizza, mushroom, out of this world delicious flavor, right amount of toppings, cheese, sauce etc. Next one, disappointing, toppings scant and didn't bring sauce or cheese out far enough to the crust edge. Someone told me to tell pizza places how to prepare your pizza, light on cheese, more sauce etc. Started doing that at Golden Pizza and have had really tasty pizzas ever since. Of course, brick oven vs regular are totally different. Will try fireside again because they hadn't been open very long. No fault of theirs......but don't ever get a cheeseburger there. No grill, they have to literally bake the burger.Cheese disappears. Horrible, dry! but not their specialty anyway.
