Health & Fitness

It's amazing what our kids can do....if only we let them!

For years, I booked my sons' plane reservations.   I went food shopping and cooked their meals when they came home from college for the summer.  And the list goes on and on.

Last summer, my older son left for a study abroad program.  I had learned through Positive Discipline to work on myself, and allow him to do the things he is capable of doing.  He spent five months in Sweden, traveled to 11 countries, did his own food shopping, cooked his own meals, lived within a budget, and much more!

I gave him the gift of believing in him, and allowing him to do all that he is capable of.

He returned in January, having experienced the world.  He had grown so much.  It truly was a life changing experience, for both of us!

I encourage each of you to think about what your kids are capable of, and allowing them to do more.  And, if they make mistakes, which are natural, help them learn from them.

Positive Discipline of Western CT inspires and promotes the development of life skills and respectful relationships in families, schools, and businesses in our local communities. We provide classes to parents, caregivers, educators and youth development workers to help strengthen relationships with children, encouraging them to be responsible, resourceful and self-reliant.
