"If I've Told You Once, I've Told You 100 Times!"

How many of you have said this, or something similar?  Do you find yourself saying the same thing over and over again, and still get no response?  I know I do!  "Put your dishes in the dishwasher."  "Clean your room."  "Stop playing video games and do your homework."  Why do we keep repeating things when it gets no result?  Want another idea?

Simply pointing out what you see is often enough to motivate change.  "I notice a wet towel on your bed."  "I see your bike outside and it's starting to rain."  "I see dirty dishes on the table and it's almost dinnertime."  Simply observing shows faith in their ability to figure out what needs to be done.  And saying it just once is respectful to you and respectful to them.  So instead of sounding like a broken record, try this simple approach.  Two keys to remember....simply make a statement, and then say nothing else.  I hope this works for you...it really has for me!
