BLUMENTHAL: The senator used the 25th anniversary of Bridgeport's L'Ambiance tragedy to propose changes to how Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) develops and implements worker health and safety standards.
“Twenty five years after L'Ambiance, hardworking Americans are still endangered on the job because of outrageous delays in setting standards to stop death and injury,” he said in a statement released by his office. “Standards delayed mean safety denied. The L'Ambiance disaster shows the cost of inaction and real life consequences to workers and their families when the government fails in this most basic responsibility – protecting workers when employers unconscionably put profit above safety. Remembering the innocent victims of L'Ambiance, we bear witness to continuing unacceptable perils permitted at some work places, and the need to fight for adequate safety.”

HIMES: The congressman attended ceremonies Monday morning to mark the 25th anniversary of L'Ambiance Plaza's collapse.
According to the CT Post, Himes told the crowd not to "drift away from the fact that these were people. They had hobbies and quirks. They told good jokes and some bad jokes. They were husbands and dads. They were people."
