Preview: Legislative Council Will Swear in Chaudhary, Talk Open Spaces

Council members will also talk open spaces.

Newtown's Legislative Council will swear in Dr. Neil Chaudhary as a council member representing District 3 at Wednesday night's council meeting after a roll call vote of Republican council members. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Newtown Municipal Center.

Earlier this week, Chaudhary told Patch he plans to approach serving with an open mind.

"Honestly, I don't come into this with an agenda," he said. "I'm really looking forward to serving Newtown, and addressing the topics as they come up." (Read the full interview with Chaudhary here.)

Last week, Chairman Jeffrey Capeci told Patch Bolinsky's replacement would automatically serve on Ordinance, Finance and Administration, the same committees on which Bolinsky served. (Bolinsky served as vice chairman of the Ordinance Committee.)

The council will also continue discussion on a proposal to accept five properties as Open Space.

Other items, according to the agenda:

  • Fairfield Hills RFP (Discussion Only).
  • A resolution recommending granting the Business Incentive Program to Michael Burton for the redevelopment of Betts Square, 107 Church Hill Road.
  • A resolution with regard to recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Commission with regard to POCD Updates.
