FEC Data: CT Contributions to Gun Control PACs

Data shows contributions to and from two major gun control advocacy groups on opposite sides of the issues.

As the Senate Judiciary Committee began deliberation on four pieces of gun control legislation on March 8, nonpartisan researchers at MapLight compiled Federal Election Commission (FEC) data of all political contributions to and from the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence since January 2009.

The public FEC records collected show donations from both political action groups to campaigns for members of the 113th Congress, broken down by state and congressional district, and contributions made to both groups, shown at the state and town levels.

Connecticut candidates did not receive money from either PAC, records show, but residents did contribute $10,340 to the NRA Political Victory Fund, with the largest total donations coming from Greenwich ($2,500) and New London ($2,200).

Connecticut residents did not contribute any money to the Brady Campaign PAC.

The NRA fund collected a total of $1.47 million since 2009 and distributed $1.45 million to congressional campaigns. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence Voter Education Fund took in $5,868 in the last four years and contributed $7,500.

MapLight, a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan research organization that tracks money's influence on politics, analysis of campaign contributions to the political action committees of the National Rifle Association and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and campaign contributions from those political action committees to members of the 113th Congress since January 1, 2009. Exactly why do you need to read these reports Elmer Davis? The cause of death was gunshot wounds.Read More Why do you need more than that, and why do you feel your curiosity for details outweigh the need for privacy? I agree with Aurelia and support her. You're acting like the Connecticut Council on Freedom is a government agency. It is a non-profit foundation and the quote from James Smith is only an opinion. It certainly does NOT carry any more weight than anyone else's, including mine, the victim's families, and the vast majority of decent people living in this town.
