As the Senate Judiciary Committee began deliberation on four pieces of gun control legislation on March 8, nonpartisan researchers at MapLight compiled Federal Election Commission (FEC) data of all political contributions to and from the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence since January 2009.
The public FEC records collected show donations from both political action groups to campaigns for members of the 113th Congress, broken down by state and congressional district, and contributions made to both groups, shown at the state and town levels.
Connecticut candidates did not receive money from either PAC, records show, but residents did contribute $10,340 to the NRA Political Victory Fund, with the largest total donations coming from Greenwich ($2,500) and New London ($2,200).
Connecticut residents did not contribute any money to the Brady Campaign PAC.
The NRA fund collected a total of $1.47 million since 2009 and distributed $1.45 million to congressional campaigns. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence Voter Education Fund took in $5,868 in the last four years and contributed $7,500.
