Dedication Celebration of the Veterans Honor Garden

 ,   Add to calendar
4 Primrose St Newtown CT 06470  See map

Our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, coast guardsmen and civilians supporting our Military have done their duty. Now, we must summon that same sense of common purpose. We must give our veterans and military families the support they deserve, and the opportunities they have earned.

We urge all Newtown residents and the members of surrounding communities to join us in honoring our Veterans and our family members currently serving in the military for their dedication and sacrifice.

The Dedication will begin at 11:00 in the Courtyard behind the Newtown Youth Academy.

The dedication will begin with the posting of colors (raising of the flags) by the Honor Guard from our local VFW Post.  We are very honored to have Katie Cummings, a recent Newtown High School graduate volunteer to lead us all in the National Anthem. Rev. Monsignor Robert Weiss from St Rose will be giving the prayer of dedication, followed by words from First Selectman Pat Llodra, Dr. Christopher Kukk, Ph.D. Political Science professor at Western Connecticut State University; and Peter D’Amico, local businessman and founder of the Newtown Youth Academy.

The real focus of the event will be the tribute to and the reading of the names of 250 men and women from the State of Connecticut who made the ultimate sacrificed and died in the line of service to our country from 1990 to present.

Please feel free to call Beth Donofrio at Newtown Youth Academy if you have any questions Phone:203-426-0088.
