Worker Injured at Dog Park Construction Site

The town highway worker was injured when his backhoe rolled over, according to the Newtown Police Department.

A town highway worker was injured Wednesday when his backhoe flipped over at the site of the future Park and Bark dog park on Old Farm Road, according to the Newtown Police Department.

The worker was transported to Danbury Hospital. Police have no information on the extent of his injuries but say they were not life-threatening.

Police are investigating and have no information on the cause of the accident at this time.

Construction began earlier this year on the dog park, which is scheduled to open this fall. According to their website, construction involved "land clearing, leveling, seeding, installation of fences, the various park structure and a parking area." The future dog park is on a two-acre site across from the Second Company Governor's Horse Guard.
