Police: Student Accused of Pushing Teacher Arrested for Assault

According to reports, a Newtown High School student who allegedly pushed (but did not injure) a teacher was issued a misdemeanor summons.

Police responded to Newtown High School on March 11 after reports of a student assaulting a teacher, according to the Newtown Police Department. Police say an investigation was conducted, and the unidentified student was arrested on charges of assault.

The teacher was "only pushed and not injured," according to police. The student was issued a juvenile misdemeanor summons for Breach of Peace and released to his/her guardian.

As a rule, names or identifying information are not divulged for minors charged with crimes. Arrests are not an indication of guilt or conviction for a crime.

We clearly need to have an armed police officer in every classroom going forward. It will be only a 20% increase to all tax payers.....i'm in.

Hey, "GRC" first of all where are your resources to prove that it will only be a 20% tax increase, do you not understand how insane you sound. First of all according to the Newtown high school directory there is about 1,700 students attending only that school. an average classroom is around 20-30 students, so thats about 70 classrooms not counting cafeterias, and other rooms. "We clearly need to have an armed police officer in every classroom" now lets say thats 70 Armed police officers, the average salary of an armed police officer is around 28,000 a year and lets say he's only at the school for 6 months, thats $14,000 a school year now lets pay each of our 70 police officers $14,000. So now we're costing the town around a million dollars a school year, and thats without the training to become an armed police officer in the State of Connecticut, and lets factor in 3 therapists for the children because of the constant fear they have to live in. So in total for ONE school, for ONE school year it would cost The Town Of Newtown around 1 Million and 50 Thousand dollars a school year to prevent an occasional assault? and even if you're talking about the Sandy Hook Shooting its not an everyday thing that something like that occurs. So your comment is irrelevant and absurd... Source: http://www.indeed.com

FIRST I`d like to CORRECT the definition of Assault! Assault is either a VERBAL or physical attack, threatening or an attempt to harm another.BATTERY is actually carrying out the assault by means of physical harm!! Let`s stop making excuses for the lack of parental obligations of parents who are too busy to scold or discipline their children.MY generation was taught to respect your elders,Police,Teachers,Neighbors and ALL Authorative figures!!! ENABLING is the WORST mistake any parent can make as it will bite you in the ars, when you least expect it(usually as teenagers)!!!! THEN those parents, who seem to think their children are angels and who can do no wrong will turn around and blame EVERYONE ELSE,including the teachers for THEIR OWN FAULTS of not doing their parenting jobs!! STOP with this blame game and be responsible for your children! YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW !! What Comes around,Goes Around!!

Sec. 53a-61. Assault in the third degree: Class A misdemeanor. (a) A person is guilty of assault in the third degree when: (1) With intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person; or (2) he recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person; or (3) with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon. Sighhhh the whole situation is nuts lol the schools are not safer today than yesterday....
