Police: Signs, Traffic Cones Strewn On Queen Street Lawn

Signs were stolen from Cork and Barrel and Berkshire Motors property.

An early-morning escapade involving stealing signs is being investigated as larceny, according to the Newtown Police Department.

According to reports, someone strew traffic cones and signs from Cork and Barrel property across the lawn of 48 Queen Street at around 1:00 in the morning Friday. Sgt. Froelich of the Newtown Police Department said the signs were pedestrian crosswalk signs. Some signs were also removed from Berkshire Motors property.

"Unfortunately, sometimes people get bored and think this is a good idea," she said. "But have respect for other peoples' things. If you start removing these pedestrian crosswalk signs, it can cause danger."

Police ask anyone with information to contact Officer John McClusky at (203) 426-5841.
