Police Seek Suspect Who Stole Enfamil, Red Bull

Man allegedly was caught on video shoplifting nearly $300 worth of baby formula and Red Bull drink.

Police are looking for a man suspected of stealing nearly $300 worth of baby formula and Red Bull beverage from the Big Y supermarket earlier this month, according to a police press release.

The man, who appeared to be white, 45-years-old, short with short hair and wearing a baseball cap, dark jacket and T-shirt, was seen on video allegedly stealing $147.14 worth of Enfamil baby formula and $141.91 worth of Red Bull from the supermarket between 7:10 and 7:20 a.m., Sat., Nov. 5, police said.

The theft was found by the supermarket's loss prevention personnel when he was reviewing security video two days later, police said.

The press release did not describe how the theft occurred.

Anyone with information on the suspect or theft is asked to contact Newtown police at 203-426-5841.

This is so sad when people have to resort to stealing baby formula. Do we have agencies in town that would have provided this for him?

Usually they are not stealing it so they can feed a baby, they are stealing it to sell for cash...Crazy I know, but who would buy baby formula off the steets and give it to their baby?

And I sure hope no one is mixing Red Bull and baby formula!

I believe the baby formula is mixed with heroin to dilute it and resell it.

Yes, a public defender friend said baby formula is a common theft items and is often used to cut drugs. Had they really needed the formula for a baby they could have gotten it through WIC.

He doesnt steal it and sell it on the street, he takes it to a bodega in Bridgeport and sells it to the owner there for pennies on the dollar. That guy who owns the bodega then sells it to folks in Bridgeport or Waterbury etc.
