Police: Sandy Hook Man Deposited $102K Forged Check

A Sandy Hook man was arrested Tuesday for trying to deposit a $102,000 counterfeit check at Newtown Savings Bank, according to reports from the Newtown Police Department.

After Thomas Minnock, 58, allegedly deposited the check, the bank called police. An investigation revealed the check was altered, police say.

Police arrested Minnock at about 10:55 a.m. Tuesday morning, charging him with second-degree larceny, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and third-degree forgery. Minnock will appear in court Sept. 12.

Reports are based on information provided by the Newtown Police Department. Arrests are not indications of guilt.
