Police: No Incidents With Media So Far Monday

An increased media presence in Newtown — in anticipation of the projected release of the 12/14 shooting report — hasn't led to any incidents at the schools and streets of Newtown, Sergeant David Kullgren told Newtown Patch Monday.

But an additional police presence are on roaming patrols in Sandy Hook and other neighborhoods.

"It's completely precautionary," said Kullgren. "We're doing it to keep the town residents at ease, and just let them know we're here."

Reporters were blocked from parking at the two largest public parking lots in Sandy Hook by placards reading 'No Media.' But some press outlets were already present at Edmond Town Hall, St. Rose of Lima and on the streets of Sandy Hook.

Kullgren said eight Newtown officers were added to provide police presence at each of Newtown's school, supplemented by Danbury officers and five or six state police. Monroe police are monitoring Sandy Hook Elementary School students at Chalk Hill School.

Kullgren was not able to comment on how long the additional officers would provide a presence. The report is expected to be released at 3:00 p.m.
