Police: Newtown Man Committed Identity Theft Using Stolen Credit Card

Newtown police arrested a local man in Bridgeport Friday under a litany of charges stemming from the alleged theft and use of a resident's credit card in June.

According to police, William Kundert III, 30, found a victim's wallet and took the credit card, using it for a variety of small purchases totaling less than $500. Police applied for a warrant, and Kundert was detained in Bridgeport at about 8:23 p.m. Friday and transported to the Newtown Police Department.

He was charged with Identity Theft, Credit Card Theft, sixth degree larceny, illegal use of a credit card and receiving goods using a stolen card. Police gave Kundert a Dec. 17 court date and released him on a promise to appear.
