Police Looking for Answers on Newtown Convenience Burglary

Police have a description of a man sought in connection with the Oct. 5 burglary.

Newtown police announced over the weekend they're investigating a break-in and burglary at Newtown Convenience and Deli, apparently perpetrated in the early-morning hours of Oct. 5.

Police are looking for a man — short and stocky, possibly hispanic, wearing jeans, black and white sneakers, a black hoodie and red gloves. Security camera footage captured a white sedan-type vehicle, according to reports.

What's more, police say, a man matching the description was seen in the store just a few hours earlier, at about 10:52 p.m. on Oct. 4. He was seen with a tall white man with blonde hair shaved on both sides, wearing tan cargo shorts, work boots and a black long-sleeve shirt with the word "SUMMIT" written on the back.

Police said the surveillance footage is not immediately available to be released to the public. Patch will provide updates if further information is received.

Residents with information on this case should call Ofc. Borges at the Newtown Police Department.
