Police Blotter: Burglary, Larceny

This information was provided by the Newtown Police Department. Neither arrests nor charges indicate a conviction, and neither means that a person is guilty of what police allege.

According to a July 21 press release from the Newtown Police, a burglary in the Sutherland Drive area took place sometime between July 13 and 16.  The resident reported that a black 32 inch LG brand television and an approximately 3 foot x 1 foot amplifier, weighing 100 pounds and covered in gray-colored carpet, were taken from a basement residence.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Newtown Police.

At about 10:30 p.m., on July 20, Charles P. Hill, 28,  of Osborne Hill Road, Sandy Hook, was charged on an outstanding warrant by Police Officer Wood.  Hill was found at the Blue Colony Diner on Church Hill Road.  Wood took Hill into custody and charged him with conspiracy to commit larceny in the fifth degree. Hill was given a court date of August 3, and was released after posting a $5,000 surety bond.
