Police Blotter, April 9 - 15

Police issue news releases for arrests and motor vehicle incidents.

Berkshire Road: A Chevrolet, driven by Grzegorz Nalysnyk, 69, of Shelton Road, Oxford, rear-ended a Chrysler, driven by Michelle Olam, 37, of Berkshire Road at Berkshire and Pole Bridge roads at 12:34 p.m., Saturday, police said. Nalysnyk was issued a written warning for following too closely, police said.

Berkshire Road: A Chrysler driven by Linda Kosko, 56, of 20 Fairmont Place, Shelton, rear-ended a Lexus, driven by Lynn Young, 53, of 10 Fanwood Road, at about 6 p.m., Wednesday in front of 30 Berkshire Road, police said. No injuries were reported and damage to the vehicles was minor, police said. Kosko was issued a written warning for following too closely.

Botsford Hill: Alice Blake, 37, of 136 Douglas St., Bridgeport was charged with misdemeanor summons for traveling unreasonably fast and operating while under suspension following a traffic stop on Botsford Hill at about 7 a.m., Tuesday, police said. She was released on a promise to appear April 23 at state Superior Court in Danbury.

Dodgingtown Road: A Honda Accord, driven by Daniel Marlins, 20, of 7 Marvin Place Bethel, rear-ended a Chevrolet Pickup, driven by Nery Cameros, 40, of 24 Fosters St., Danbury on Dodgingtown Road at Taunton Hill Road at about 10 a.m. Saturday, police said. Marlins was issued a written warning for following too closely, police said.

Elm Drive: Elena Westhaver, 38, of 33 Elm Drive, was charged with disorderly conduct following a domestic incident at her home 10 p.m. Friday, police said. She was released on a written promise to appear Monday at state Superior Court in Danbury.

Fairfield Hills campus: A Derby man and five others were found trying to break into one of the buildings Saturday at about 5:45 p.m., police said. Ian Matthew Knox, 28, of 79 8th St., 2nd flr, Derby was accused of forcing entry and charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespass. He was released on a promise to appear April 22 at state Superior Court Danbury.

Hi Barlow Road: Claudio Placido, 43, and Laura Placido, 33, both of 30 Hi Barlow Road, were charged with disorderly conduct following a domestic incident at their home 7:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. They were released on a written promise to appear Monday at state Superior Court in Danbury.

Mount Pleasant Road: John Grossman, 50, and Sonia Barbosa, 56, both of 45 Mount Pleasant Road, were charged with disorderly conduct 6 p.m. in connection with a domestic incident Thursday, police said. They were released on a promise to appear Friday at state Superior Court in Danbury.

Poverty Hollow Road: A Subaru station wagon, driven by Janice Lavery, of Roosevelt Drive, collided with a Jeep Eagle, driven by Michael Dinardo, of Morning Glory, Easton at the intersection of Poverty Hollow and Hattertown roads at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, police said. The vehicles did not need to be towed and Lavery was issued a written warning for stop sign violations, police said.

Queen Street: A Ford station wagon was damaged in the parking loat at 5 Queen St. between 6 and 10 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Taunton Hill Road: A Toyota Tacoma pickup truck struck a deer southbound on Taunton Hill Road at about 7:30 p.m., Saturday, police said. The pickup, which was heavily damaged in the front, had to be towed. The driver Joseph Cello, 49, of 3 Wedgewood Court was given a verbal warning for traveling too fast, police said.

Newtown Police Department: Jesse Lewis, 18, of 158 Walnut Tree Hill Road, Bethel, turned himself in on an arrest warrant Tuesday morning, police said. Lewis was charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree larceny in connection with a June 17, 2008 incident. He was held on a $2,500 bond and taken to state Superior Court in Danbury for arraignment, police said.

State Superior Court in Danbury: Sandra Ballard, 50, of 119 Coalpit Hill Road, Danbury, was arrested on a warrant issued by Newtown police while appearing at the state Superior Court in Danbury on an unrelated case on Monday, officials said. Ballard, who is incarcerated at York Correctional Institution in Niantic on the unrelated matter, was charged with second-degree harrassment in connection with a Dec. 21 Newtown incident, police said.
