Driver Charged in Accident That Injured Two Pedestrians

A 47-year-old Waterbury man was turning near the flagpole when he reportedly hit two 64-year-old pedestrians.

A Waterbury man was charged with an infraction Monday in connection with the Dec. 11 accident at the Church Hill-Main Street intersection by the flagpole in the center of Newtown that injured two pedestrians.

According to reports, Huffman was turning left from Main Street onto Church Hill Road when he struck the pedestrians, a male and female, both 64. Police say the two sustained minor head injuries and were taken to the hospital.

After a police investigation, Arthur Huffman, 47, of Waterbury was charged with two counts of Failure to Grant Right-of-Way to a Pedestrian in the Crosswalk.
