Newtown Police Reports: March 28-April 2

Vandalism Arrest

An investigation into multiple incidents of spray paint vandalism to businesses on South Main Street came to a conclusion April 1 when a youthful offender was arrested.

Police said the youthful offender came to headquarters at 10:15 a.m. that day to surrender after an arrest warrant had been issued. The youthful offender was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal mischief, and four counts of third-degree criminal mischief in relation to the vandalisms, which police said took place in February.

The minor was released on a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 16.

Drug Charges

Elizabeth Doty, 31, was arrested by warrant on March 29 on charges of possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and risk of injury to a minor. Her bond was set at $500 and she was scheduled to appear in court on March 30.

OUI at 10 a.m.

Alexa Larsen, 44, of Lakeview Terrace in Newtown, was charged with Operating a vehicle Under the Influence after being pulled over on Currituck Road at 10 a.m. on March 28.

Police pulled her over because she reportedly was known to have a PRAWN warrant for criminal trespass and two failure to appear counts. Police said it was also determined that she was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and that she was operating under the influence. Larsen was held on a $500 bond, police said

DUI on Mount Pleasant Road

Mary E. Guinness, 40, of Danbury, was arrested at 12:48 a.m. on March 29 on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

She was pulled over on Mount Pleasant Road near the intersection with Violette Road, police said. In addition to DUI, Guinness was issued an infraction for making a restricted turn. She was released on a $100 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 12.

Violation of Probation

Matthew John Gray turned himself in to police headquarters at 12:53 p.m. on March 28 on outstanding warrant for violation of probation, according to police. He was released after posting a $500 court-ordered bond and was scheduled to appear in court on March 29.

Petro Oil Van Damaged

A Petro Oil van parked in the Misty Vale parking lot at 51 Berkshire Road was hit by an unknown vehicle at about 8:15 a.m. on April 2.

Police said the vehicle that hit the van was possibly light blue in color, based on damage to the driver side of the van. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Officer Smith at 203-426-5841, ext. 092.

Unidentified Car Hits Trees

An unknown vehicle struck and caused damage to three trees at 74 Flat Swamp Road at about 12:45 a.m. on March 30.

The vehicle, which police said they believe to be a late-90s Honda with damage to the right front section, was reportedly towed from the scene before police were contacted. Anyone with information is encouraged to call at 203-426-5841
