New Canaan Man Arrested for Assaulting Daughter

He turned himself in on a warrant.


On Nov. 20, a 50-year-old New Canaan male turned himself in to police custody after being notified a warrant was out for his arrest for his alleged assault of his teenage daughter. The assault allegedly took place on Nov. 11 at 3:39 p.m.

According to police, the Department of Children and Families notified the police department of the situation after saying the received an anonymous call. Investigation revealed the father did assault his daughter, police said. The daughter’s injuries did not warrant medical treatment, police said.

The man was charged with assault in the third degree, disorderly conduct and threatening in the second degree.

He was released on a promise to appear in court Nov. 21.

Back when I grew up in NC years ago, my dad knocked the cr*p out of me more than once. You did not go to the cops and complain. It is a different world these days........

I'm sorry Billy but violence is not right. You may have been beaten as a kid but that doesn't mean it's right, its actually illegal. So yes it is a different world, a safer one. One that has people who can help prevent stuff like this from happening again because unlike you some children can't handle being hit by someone who is supposed to love them.

I did not like it at all. In fact, it scared the pants off of me. When my dad passed away, I did not care all that much.

Abuse is no good but I think a kid deserves a little wack if they do something wrong. Screaming can be worse sometimes. A little smack on the hand is fine
