A 39-year-old woman was arrested for leaving her children at home unattended, police said.
According to Sgt. Ogrinc, the department received a call from an adult female on Country Club Road West who stated that a four-year-old girl that lived across the street wandered into her yard alone. When police arrived, they found three other children — ages 13, 10 and 1 1/2 — in the home. Police later contacted their mother Rebecca Young, who was at church.
Young told police that she left the home at 1:30 p.m., but a babysitter was due to arrive at 2 p.m. The call, however, came into the department at 1:24 p.m., according to police. Young was charged with risk of injury to a minor and released on a PTA. She is scheduled to appear on court on May 29.

On May 15, a 75-year-old Mead Street resident reported to police that he received two counterfeit money orders via mail.
According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, the complainant told police that a while back he heard about open position as a mystery shopper and applied. When he received an offer of employment, he was told that he was going to receive his first assignment shortly.
He then received an overnight FedEx delivery that contained two postal money order and a note asking for his opinion on service provided by Western Union. Instructions came with the package asking the complainant to deposit the money orders and send the difference to a third party in the Philippines. The complainant told police that he wanted to report the incident in case other residents received a similar package.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on May 16 after getting into a physical altercation with his parents.
According to Sgt. Ogrinc, Ryan Shullman and his parents were at their Middle Ridge Road home when they began to argue. Officers arrived at the scene after his parents called 911, but Shullman had already taken off on foot. Shullman's father had bruising and a small laceration on his face, while his mother had a small mark on her face. The couple also told police that their son broke a window and punched or kicked a hole in the wall.
Canine officers were brought to the scene to look for Shullman, but were unable to locate him. Shullman turned himself in the next day and was charged with two counts of third-degree assault, two counts of disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal mischief. He was released on PTA and was scheduled to appear in court on May 18.

A 21-year-old Chicago man was arrested on May 16 for soliciting magazines without a permit, police said. According to Sgt. Ogrinc, Roshawn Wallace turned himself in and was charged with failing to pay or plead to an infraction. He posted a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 29. The original arrest was on May 9, 2011 and he failed to appear in court on Nov. 14, 2011.

A 46-year-old woman turned herself into police on a warrant for violation a criminal protective order, police said. According to Sgt. Ogrinc, Maude Letendre of Rye, New York, violated the order granted to her husband after she sent him an email. Letendre told police that she didn't mean to send the email and made the mistake by hitting "Reply All" button. She posted a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on May 18.

Jose R. Galavis, 42, of New Norwalk Road turned himself into police on May 16 on a warrant for evading responsibility, driving under the influence, interfering with an officer and improper turn. On March 11, Galavis was involved in a car accident in which he was injured and received treatment at the hospital.
