Man Illegally Attempts to Obtain Narcotics at Walgreens, Cell Phone Use Leads to Several Charges

The following arrest information was supplied by the Newtown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Erik Figueroa, 33, of Bronx, NY, was charged with second-degree forgery, attempting to gain prescriptions by forgery, attempting to obtain prescriptions using a false address and criminal attempt at possession of narcotics with intent to sell on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at approximately 3:45 p.m.

According to police, Figueroa was attempting to use forged documents to obtain prescription narcotics at Walgreens Pharmacy, 49 South Main St. in Newtown. Pharmacy staff alerted police and after a brief investigation Figueroa was taken into custody.

Larry Pignatello, 27, of Danbury, was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended license and issued a summons for operating a vehicle while using a cell phone after police observed him on his cell phone while driving west on Wasserman Way on Monday, Oct. 8 at approximately 2:13 p.m.

According to police, Pignatello had a warrant out for his arrest from Brookfield PD on charges of second-degree failure to appear, operating a vehicle with a suspended license and failure to obey a turn signal.

Pignatello was released on $1,000 bond and is schedule to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Oct. 19.

David Howard, 32, of Newtown was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended license and failure to obey a stop sign after police observed him drive trough a stop sign of Currituck Rd. and Obtuse Rd. on Sunday, Oct. 14 at approximately 7:25 p.m.

Howard was released on $100 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Oct. 30.

Michael Garland, 26, of Brookfield, was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended license and issued a summons for operating a vehicle while using a cell phone after police observed him on his cell phone while driving in the area of Hawleyville Rd. and I-84 West on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at approximately 4:16 p.m.

Garland was released on a written promise to appear and is schedule to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Oct. 24.
