Husband and Wife Arrested on Credit Card Theft Charges

Police say the Newtown couple stole the card from someone's wallet while the person was grocery shopping.

A Newtown couple was arrested on multiple charges May 5 in relation to allegations that they stole a credit card from someone shopping at a grocery store in town.

Police said the couple turned themselves in at headquarters and were both charged with:

  • Credit card theft
  • Illegal use of a credit card
  • Sixth-degree larceny
  • Conspiracy to commit credit card theft
  • Conspiracy to commit illegal use of a credit card
  • Conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny

Police said the charges stem from an investigation that began on Nov. 8, 2013, when a resident reported a stolen credit card.

The couple, Frank and Lori Anne Schovanec, of Huntington Road, allegedly stole the card and used it, police said.

Lori Anne, 34, and Frank, 42, were both released on $10,00 bond each and are due in court on May 20. According to the police report, they both have a previous record.
