Hit and Run and Violation of Protective Order

This information was provided by the Newtown Police, but people who are charged with crimes are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Sept 17, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Newtown Police officers were dispatched to the area of Mill Hill South and Nunnawauk Rd after a report of an evading accident.

Marvin Taylor, 28, of Huntingtown Road was reportedly struck by a red Chevy pick-up truck registered to James Brown, 77, of Tame Buck Rd, Wolcott, CT.

Officers located the vehicle a short distance from the scene of the accident.  The police attempted to pull the pick-up over but the driver refused to stop.  A short pursuit ensued but ended quickly due to the significant risk to the public.  The driver was later identified as James Brown.  An arrest warrant will be issued charging Brown with multiple MV violations.

On Sept. 14, at about 10:15 a.m., Anne Marie Blagbrough, 48, Church Hill Rd,  turned herself in to the Newtown Police based on an outstanding warrant that originated with an investigation that took place on Sept. 4.  Blagbrough was processed according to the department’s policy and was charged with Criminal Violation of a Protective Order.  She was transported to court where her bond was set at $50,000.
