Head O'Meadow Closes Tuesday After Reported Threat

Another threat Tuesday preempts Head O'Meadow students' return.

According to reports, an undisclosed threat was made on Head O’Meadow School in Newtown Tuesday morning, prompting the school to close for the day.

Newtown students returned to class Tuesday for the first time since the tragic slaying of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday and after another, anonymous shooting threat (ultimately discovered to be a hoax) was made during a special Mass at St. Rose of Lima on Sunday.

NBC30 is reporting that the school’s staff is safe and accounted for and, due to a two-hour delay in effect district-wide Tuesday morning, no students were in the building at the time the threat was made.

The New Haven Register Tweeted that a Newtown police official confirmed that the school was “placed in lockdown for precautionary measures.”

Calls to the school Tuesday morning went to voicemail.

God bless you all. I can't believe how sick people are to keep tormenting your town. I hope cops get whoever keeps doing this and you can grieve in peace.
Dawn Duncan December 18, 2012 at 07:29 PM
I can not believe the torment keeps coming for this town. I hope they find out who is doing this soon and make an example of them. God bless Newtown.

This is ridiculous these people have dealt with enough and still receive threats. This country we live in is in the gutter and it's completely unnecessary. First the community loses 20 innocent children and 6 adults (not counting the shooter and his mother). Then they get a threat at a church during mass for the fallen causing more panic and now another school is forced to shut down causing more anguish and fear in the community. Let these people grieve and let them grieve in peace.

I cant believe they call the threat a HOAX??

This is truly disgusting and if the person making the threat is found, he or she should be severly punished. May God's blessings protect Newtown.

My bet is its the news reporters... just to get a story

Continue to pray for this town and its people. God bless them and give them comfort and strength.

Find this person and lock them up for the rest of their life! And remind them that even if we pray for them their destination in the afterlife is going to be HELL along with the rest of the folks who kill and torment others for fun!

Another sicko arises.

It's been reported. The shooter and his mother are dead. The media has to STOP covering this and let people grieve for all of the victims. All the media is doing is sending information to unbalanced people that are going to want to top this horrible event.
Robert Demarco December 18, 2012 at 08:08 PM
We love you and are thinking about you, Newtown. It is a disgrace that someone gets enjoyment at your expense in your time of grief. The country supports you so please hang in there. Good will triumph.

Newtown, the world is praying for you!

This is disgusting. There is no EXCUSE for any of the threats that have been made since this tragedy. People on Twitter calling for the murder of the head of the NRA, & ALL of it's members, bomb threats to a church, now a shooting threat to another school. Our nation is in some SERIOUS trouble. If we don't get back to allowing God into our nation again, & start teaching about being moral, decent & law abiding, it's only going to get worse. If the media wouldn't show these things over & over & over, & if these movie makers would actually make GOOD movies, instead of vampires, demonic things, such as Harry Potter, & make murder & mayhem look appealing, then it MIGHT stop at least SOME of the hatred. And, before any get excited over my Harry Potter comment, don't bother. That's MY opinion. But, IF you're having problems with your child, check out to see what they're watching, reading, or even playing in their games.

This is a despicable comment. Historically journalists have gone out on a limb to report accurately and objectively. The Rupert Murdochs and Fox News "reporters" of this world have worked hard to destroy good solid journalism and now we have people who cast aspersions on the profession as a whole.

I think everyone needs to take a look at one another and see that these people have had their hearts ripped out of their body, bad enough they have to see this everywhere they look and the reminders will always be there everytime right before Christmas this will always be in their minds and heavy hearts, the media needs to act as human beings and leave these poor people alone to grief and try somehow to go on.

This horrible event was due to a mental health issue that went unchecked. The availability of firearms for an unbalanced and perhaps homicidal and suicidal person because of medication he was given for aspergers is something no parent should ever do. The copycat and bomb threat hooligans are living in a nightmare world of violence - from movies, video games, even network tv - this is the desensitizing of america to voilence and bloodshed, bit by bit. This has nothing to do with God, atheists can have compassion like any person who goes to church or synagogue - this is about a troubled kid, on medication, always a loner who did not fit in - whose parents/caregivers lost control of the situation, who hoped he would pull himself up. I look at my kids and wonder, when will it happen again? What can I do to make sure it doesn't? i have no answers, but a profound sense of loss and remorse about this country's downward spiral for the last 25 years.

That is terrorism...it's what Guantanimo was built for...send them.
Rose Young-Stewart December 19, 2012 at 02:17 AM
The person/s who left such a threatening message, in my humble opinion, is exactly like Adam Lanza. There is a need for recognition, a need for an audience and a wish to see their name in the news 100 times a day. Sociopathic personality.
Rose Young-Stewart December 19, 2012 at 02:20 AM
maybe its you too. such a threat is a federal offense no logical newspaper person would ever do that. they are not stupid. are you? did you send it? watch out for amber. amber needs attention..
Rose Young-Stewart December 19, 2012 at 02:21 AM
watch out for Amber.
Rebecca Howard Hathaway December 19, 2012 at 02:34 AM
anyone have updated info on this- was threat a hoax? substantiated?
A. G. P. December 19, 2012 at 02:14 PM
Forgive Amber's cynicism: Those of us in affected neighborhoods have spent the last 4 days calling the police and also personally running off reporters that have been going door to door searching for the homes of suffering families (with special fervor, it seems, for homes with 2 children involved).
A. G. P. December 19, 2012 at 02:39 PM
All right , I won't get excited, I'll just ask if you read the books. I read a review by a preacher who read them in order to prepare a strong, informed condemnation. Instead, he found them to be (to my best recollection of his quote) "one of the most beautiful discussions of love, honor and goodness, vs. selfishness, fear and evil" that he'd seen in yr.s. But to your point, the movies did lose some of that and focus to much on the mayhem aspect.
