Fugitive From Justice Apprehended in Newtown

Police say the Florida man is wanted on child abuse and lewd conduct charges in Orange County.

A Florida man who had taken up residence in Newtown was arrested late last week as a fugitive from justice.

Newtown Police say the man is wanted on felony charges out of Florida for child abuse and lewd conduct. Sheriffs from Orange County contacted Newtown Police when they heard he was living in town.

The man, Michael S. Dembeck, 33, was taken into custody without incident on March 6 at the place he was living, 40 Little Brook Lane in Newtown.

Dembeck was charged here as a fugitive from justice, and was held on a $250,000 bond.

He will ultimately have an extradition hearing to be transported to Florida, where he faces the child abuse and lewd conduct charges.
