New To Newtown, Christine Rose Joins Newtown Patch

Please meet your new local editor. She's eager to hear from you!

Hello! I am pleased to introduce myself as your new Newtown Patch Editor.

You will see me around in as many places as I cover in a day, every day, but Newtown Patch will function best with your help and your involvement.  Be sure to enter in all of your Announcements and Events, so we can be sure to cover them, post them on the homepage, and promote them.

I am here to serve you. This is your town, and no one knows it better than you do. Together, as a team, we can make sure all of the information is getting out, all of the time.

If you happen to find yourself in the center of a breaking news story, call me at 203-543-9720.  I will get there ASAP.  Breaking News can include fires, floods, acts of god and unexpected acts of man. A driver hitting a telephone pole that knocks out power, a cow wandering down Main Street, car accidents; if it makes you say, WOW! I want to know, and so does everyone else.

Put my number in your cell phone so you don't have to go looking for it in an emergency. 203-543-9720.

I have been working for Patch for nearly two years. In Danbury, I covered education, council meetings, photo galleries and Mom stories for a year. As a regional reporter, I covered 10 towns for several months before I became Guest Editor for Bethel Patch. After five months, I have been asked to cover Newtown. I will be still be working with both Patches still, but reporting almost solely in Newtown.

I love news, all kinds of news, and I will be happy to hear what kind of news you love to read.

You can look forward to reading about Land Conservation, Planning and Zoning issues, Public Works, Town Government news and Education.  I also have a soft spot for local heroes, animal and human interest stories, nonprofits and businesses.

If you or someone you know is doing something you think is really cool, send me an email and tell me about it. Let's do a story!

Having been a professional photographer, you can also look forward to galleries and videos.

Again, I am here to serve you, so let me know what is important to you.
I am so thrilled to be here and I cannot wait to meet you.  And remember, if you think you have breaking news or even just an interesting story, be sure to let me know. Let's make Patch your best hometown go-to source for everything you think is important.

Warmest wishes,
Christine Rose

Gary has been managing 14 towns. :-) I heard there has been a problem with the pending approval buffer, it is a new feature and I believe it still has kinks. I will see about that today.
Thanks for the reminder!

WELCOME!! I wish you every success here! Based on your first letter (above) we are indeed lucky to have you representing us! Hopefully you can help us all raise the bar on these discussions, so that we can be creative, helpful and solution-oriented, and not just whiney and cynical. Lots of good stuff stuff going on in Newtown!

Why is it the panel for this event does not include a single advocate for gun-owners' rights? WithRead More all due respect to Chief McNamara, why does the panel no include a person who can speak to gun safety from a gun-owning civilian's perspective? ML, you claim that the assembled folks "do not offer judgements about gun ownership" but they are not including a single voice that can offer perspective on gun ownership. I have been to "education" sessions sponsored by Meg's March for Change and they are one-sided indoctrinations into gun control advocacy. >>>> I was in Hartford for the public hearings in January when both Meg and March co-founder Nancy gave their personal testimonies and they all but threatened the legislators on the panel with election day retribution for all those who did not tow the gun-control line of thinking (i.e. March and CAGV). To suggest that Meg "does not offer judgements" is fallacious and disingenuous.
