Unique Spirit Tree Pendant Honors Sandy Hook Victims

Unique pendant to honor the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook School massacre features a mighty oak tree with each victims names as the leaves. All proceeds to the United Way of Newtown.

I designed this unique pendant to honor the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook School massacre. After wracking my brain trying to come up with a way to show my support I created this design to remember the victims and to help the families. All proceeds (100%) will be donated to the Sandy Hook School Support Fund through the Western CT United Way.

Taking a basic idea from the Newtown school systems which features a character tree on which core values are built, I based the design on a mighty oak tree with branches.  Each victim's name represents a leaf on the tree. The pendant also features the name of the town and the date.

The pendant is unisex and is available in nickel or gold plated for the same price of $20.00. We are hoping to raise at least $2000 for this cause and will keep a  running record on the front page of this web site. The pendant is also available with an additional charm either a heart or a mini dog tag style charm with the choice of the Japanese Kanji symbol for either hope or strength or a childs tiny hand print.

On the morning of December 14th I sat at an automotive repair shop waiting room, watching the news, with 5 strangers crying and trying to comfort one another. My niece and nephew who go to school in Bethel, CT were in lockdown. They were able to text me on and off throughout the day. The sense of helplessness was overwhelming. I can only imagine what the families were feeling and continue to experience.

I only hope that this "Spirit Tree" will help to keep the spirit of all these lives alive in all our hearts. The pictures do not do this piece justice. You can purchase the pendant here http://www.simplyremembered.com/index.php/jewelry/photo-engraved/spirit-tree-pendant-detail

Hi Wendy. I received my pendant today and it is beautiful! Thank you so much.

@Marianne. Thank you. I am so happy that you are pleased! I did get a little overwhelmed as I did not have enough stock in house to cover all the orders initially. Because of that shipping was a little slow. I apologize for that. We hope to make the donation to United Way at the end of this month. I would love to raise $2000 we are about 1/4 of the way there. Thank you for your support!!!!!
Marianne Foreman January 13, 2013 at 07:44 am
No worries at all on the shipping. I did not think it was slow at all. I ordered it on the 4th, I have it in less than 10 days and I am in California. I am glad to hear that your initial orders were more than what you had stock for. In this case, that is a good thing! I wish you much success on reaching and exceeding your goal!!

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day but also marks 2 months since the shooting. We have raised a little over $700 for the families and first responders. Do you know someone who would like a pendant? Proceeds go to the Newtown United Way Fund.

For this weekend only we are donating the proceeds of this pendant to the Barth Family Fire Fund. The Barth family's 7 year old was in Kaitlin Roig's first grade class during the shooting. Ms Roig hid all the children in a bathroom and they survived. One of their other children also attends Sandy Hook Elementary. Last Wed the Barth's home caught fire and burned to the ground killing the family dog and leaving them homeless. Anyone who would like to help this family can find more info on our site.

Why is it the panel for this event does not include a single advocate for gun-owners' rights? WithRead More all due respect to Chief McNamara, why does the panel no include a person who can speak to gun safety from a gun-owning civilian's perspective? ML, you claim that the assembled folks "do not offer judgements about gun ownership" but they are not including a single voice that can offer perspective on gun ownership. I have been to "education" sessions sponsored by Meg's March for Change and they are one-sided indoctrinations into gun control advocacy. >>>> I was in Hartford for the public hearings in January when both Meg and March co-founder Nancy gave their personal testimonies and they all but threatened the legislators on the panel with election day retribution for all those who did not tow the gun-control line of thinking (i.e. March and CAGV). To suggest that Meg "does not offer judgements" is fallacious and disingenuous.

I'm o n Butterfield. No sightings here. Any specifics as to her location?
Carol Chapman June 19, 2013 at 09:23 am
Norma has been spotted this morning at the intersection of Kenan and Currituck. The red leash isRead More still attached. She was trying to eat a dead squirrel on Currituck. Very skittish, but still in the neighborhood (yay). Please watch for her. My husband and sister-in-law (who first spotted her on Currituck this morning) were unable to get near her. She's in the woods, heading toward Butterfield. Her foster mom is on the scene now. Folks in the neighborhood, please watch for her and call 203-942-4008 if you see her.
Carol Chapman June 19, 2013 at 11:20 am
Carolee Mason (Newtown's Animal Control Officer) is watching her from her car at the moment, armedRead More with catfood to tempt her closer. The foster mom is on her way there again, this time with chicken, and Laura is on her way with hamburger. Problem is, this dog is VERY shy, skittish and quick to run away.
