Unique Spirit Tree Pendant Honors Sandy Hook Victims

Unique pendant to honor the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook School massacre features a mighty oak tree with each victims names as the leaves. All proceeds to the United Way of Newtown.

I designed this unique pendant to honor the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook School massacre. After wracking my brain trying to come up with a way to show my support I created this design to remember the victims and to help the families. All proceeds (100%) will be donated to the Sandy Hook School Support Fund through the Western CT United Way.

Taking a basic idea from the Newtown school systems which features a character tree on which core values are built, I based the design on a mighty oak tree with branches.  Each victim's name represents a leaf on the tree. The pendant also features the name of the town and the date.

The pendant is unisex and is available in nickel or gold plated for the same price of $20.00. We are hoping to raise at least $2000 for this cause and will keep a  running record on the front page of this web site. The pendant is also available with an additional charm either a heart or a mini dog tag style charm with the choice of the Japanese Kanji symbol for either hope or strength or a childs tiny hand print.

On the morning of December 14th I sat at an automotive repair shop waiting room, watching the news, with 5 strangers crying and trying to comfort one another. My niece and nephew who go to school in Bethel, CT were in lockdown. They were able to text me on and off throughout the day. The sense of helplessness was overwhelming. I can only imagine what the families were feeling and continue to experience.

I only hope that this "Spirit Tree" will help to keep the spirit of all these lives alive in all our hearts. The pictures do not do this piece justice. You can purchase the pendant here http://www.simplyremembered.com/index.php/jewelry/photo-engraved/spirit-tree-pendant-detail

I remember years ago that not all of the information about the Kennedy death and assassination wouldRead More not be unsealed until 2017, so why not be able to seal the records of these deaths for the same amount of time?

To further support my support of Aurelia, the letter above states it was the New York Post thatRead More wanted the details. Good for you town clerk! I goggled the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information and they are indeed nothing more than a non-profit group. They are not a government agency. And an inept one - their own website is a mess. What clowns.- http://ctcouncilfoi.org/

Town Clerk Aurelia is already causing the town to needlessly spend money defending her derelictionRead More of duty: "An attorney representing the town, with the law firm Cohen and Wolf, issued an opinion in response to the, (New York), Post's request stating that the public is only allowed to view death and marriage certificates that are "at least one hundred years old." Cost aside she is pushing for a state law that would restrict access to a minors birth certificate for 6 months, she originally wanted them sealed for 10 years. The only thing the proposed law is going to accomplish is the healing that has been accomplished is going to be undone when the seal expires. This is much ado about nothing. http://www.newstimes.com/local/article/Newtown-officials-withhold-death-certificates-4526713.php
